Most of Mother’s Day will be dry, but we are still on track for widespread storms this evening.
Level 3 risk now includes much of Central Texas with very strong winds and large hail being the main concern. An isolated tornado is also a possibility, especially north of Austin.
Rough idea on arrival timing for the main line: Hill Country 6 PM - 10 PM. I-35 corridor/Austin metro 8 PM to midnight. Coastal plains after 10 PM.
An isolated storm ahead of the main line is also not out of the question. I’d say make sure you have a way to get alerts starting at 6 PM if you want to play it safe.
This funnel cloud was not caused by a typical rotating storm, but was more likely formed due to outflow winds pushed out from the storms producing brief, weak funnels.

The latest storm outlook for Sunday now includes parts of far northern Mason, Llano, & Burnet counties in a level 3 of 5 severe risk. Still a level 2 in Austin.
Much of Mother’s Day will be dry, but storms are likely for the evening. Large hail & strong winds are the main threat.
