Applications for the 2026–2027 Chorus Auditions are now open. Chorus members will be considered for chorus roles, small roles, and community casting with both companies, including Massenet's Thaïs with Austin Opera and Verdi's La traviata, presented in collaboration with OPERA San Antonio.

Austin Opera and Austin Public Library are partnering once again this summer to bring Meet the Opera to library branches across Austin! ☀️🎶

Designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding, these free events introduce students and families to the many moving parts of opera. Each event breaks down a part of the creative process, highlighting the musicians, singers, and production teams who collaborate to bring an opera from score to stage.

On Saturday, members of the Austin Opera team were in New York City to see the first public workshop of Ofrenda!

Austin Opera's first commission was featured in the American Lyric Theater's InsightALT, an intimate insider's look behind the scenes of creating new operas.

We were so thrilled to hear the audience reactions and can't wait for Austinites to experience this wonderful and special opera. Thank you American Lyric Theater, composer Jorge Sosa, librettist John de los Santos, pianist Kristen Kemp, and conductor Kamna Gupta.

Bravi to the incredible vocalists who performed with so much emotion throughout the workshop and the performance.
