It’s Grinding Day here at Austin Ferret Rescue—aka the one day a month where we prep nearly 50 pounds of raw meat for our rescues. 🥩🐾 Why? Because ferrets are obligate carnivores—meaning their bodies are built to eat whole prey. That includes meat, organs, bones, and all the innards nature intended. Their wild diet keeps their digestive systems healthy and their energy high—and we do our best to honor that here, even in a rescue setting. We grind everything fresh, portion it, and freeze it in batches to make sure our ferrets get the nutrition they need while they wait for their forever homes. 💛 It’s messy, it’s labor-intensive… but it’s a labor of love.
