The first choice I made when redesigning this kitchen was the 42” Ilve range in this beautiful ivory color. Drawing up a vent hood that could also double as a work of art was second on the list, since it would be acting as the main focus of the kitchen. I knew I wanted something with movement, but also wanted something easy to clean for the new home owners. I searched and searched until I found this metal roofing material and fell in love. The best part? It came pre-painted/ pre-finished and I could buy a matching trim piece to finish off the bottom edge. 🙏🏼 Last of all, to allow the vent hood to not be upstaged by anything else, I ordered these beautiful clear glass pendant lights that have a dark wood upper tier that balances the dark island and vent hood perfectly, yet still let’s it shine through. I decided on round globe lightbulbs to mimic the round globe wall sconces I installed at the backsplash, and I like how everything is different, but “married” somehow. What questions do you have for me?

One of my favorite changes we made at this project was the opening of the kitchen and taking over the old eating area in order to accommodate the new 42” range and create this oversized vent hood. Previously there was a door on the right that led to what used to be a formal dining, which we blocked off and made the refrigerator wall and turned the formal dining into a home office. We created a new dining area as part of the addition to the back of the house. What questions do you have?

I can’t wait to show you more of this finished project! Our Highview Modern Cottage is officially on the market and ready to view! I chose ochre browns, soft greens, beiges, and natural woods for this house and I love the feeling of combined earth and home here. Stay tuned for more of this incredible remodel/ addition 📷 Here’s a peek at the new powder bathroom, part of the new addition we did off the back of the house.

I’ve had to remind myself of a few things lately, but especially today: Only I can control the fear and darkness that I allow into my heart and mind. Only I can choose hope and peace for myself no matter what’s happening around me.
This is a stressful election. I know it. Even in my own nuclear family we are voting all different directions despite our adamant love for eachother and the commonalities we share through those bonds. We each, as humans, view every situation through a lens unique to each of us. What I feel like are the most important issues of our time may not be problems you even deem important. And that’s ok. Unfortunately our country only allows us two real choices each election cycle (I would love to see that change). But until then, let’s choose love. Let’s choose calm in the face of opposition. Let’s choose to not be offended by someone else’s viewpoint. Let’s choose peace over battle. Let’s choose eachother. Let’s vote out of love instead of out of hate. But do, please, choose to vote. ❣️
