2.3 pounds, this is the weight of a folded flag.
To the family, it carries the weight of the world.

Today we salute those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

13 folds for the ultimate sacrifice.
Each fold carries the birthdays, graduations, weddings, and anniversaries that will be missed.
Each fold carries the tears and prayers of families before.
Each fold carries the hopes and dreams sacrificed.

They gave their tomorrows for our freedom today and our future.

Today, we at the Texas VFW Foundation, stand and salute those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Soldier Accounted For From Korean War (Stewart, O.) 05/23/2026

Today, we pause to honor the memory of U.S. Army Cpl. Orestus M. Stewart of Magnolia Springs, Texas, who was killed in action during the Korean War in 1950 and has now been officially accounted for after more than 75 years.

Cpl. Stewart served with the 2nd Infantry Division during the fighting around the Pusan Perimeter and was just 20 years old when he made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

We are deeply grateful for the continued work of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and all those dedicated to ensuring our missing service-members are never forgotten. Through painstaking recovery, scientific analysis, and an unwavering commitment to America’s fallen heroes, families like the Stewarts are finally able to receive long-awaited answers and bring their loved ones home.

While many still remain unaccounted for, today serves as a powerful reminder that the mission continues.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Stewart family as they prepare to lay Cpl. Stewart to rest in his hometown on May 24.

Welcome home, Corporal Stewart. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

‼️ Action Alert: Congress has already shown strong bipartisan support for the Major Richard Star Act.

Now support must lead to action.

If your Representative supports the bill, ask them to sign the discharge petition and help move this legislation forward.
