My Covid-19 project. I electrified my old Sig Magnum! I originally built this plane in 1991. My good friend and car painting expert John Smith painted this plane. The finish is still in pretty good shape after all these years. The front end was damaged in a light crash at the 2017 Fargo Contest when I had the lines hooked up backwards and took off not knowing it. I removed my Super Tigre G-21 .46; carved out some of the hard maple motor mount and removed one firewall and installed a different one for the electric motor. Now it has a Cobra 3520/14 700 KV motor; Thunder Power Pro Lite 2800 mAh 6s 25C battery; Castle Creations ICE Lite 50 ESC; and RSM Distribution KR Gov timer and switch. Prop is an APC 10 X 5.8 EP Thin Electric Pusher. I reversed polarity on the motor. I have a Tru-Turn spinner on order. I've flown it twice as it is right now. The cowl hatch is temporary to hold everything in while flying. The next step is to put glass cloth on the nose and refinish. Then construct a new motor/battery compartment cowl. Finally repaint where needed. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it flew even though it weighs in at just under 70 OZ. Most of the extra weight comes from the 6s battery which weighs about 12.5 OZ. I'm going to be experimenting with different battery and prop combinations. Probably lighten up the landing gear and wheels too. I think it can actually be made competitive if I can get the weight down a bit. But now I am definitely going to build a new stunt plane designed around this set up or something very similar. I like the advantages of electric. A lot less stuff to haul around; no mess; and quiet. Now any large parking lot in town is fair game! Cool! I'm psyched!

I went out flying on Sunday February 16. Flew off skis on the hard packed snow. Fingers almost too cold to fly. Needed better gloves! My Kaos with OS .61 flew great!
