The Scaley Blazing Star is an early blooming flower that thrives is prairies, especially in the Blackland Prairies found in central Texas. Millions of years ago the Gulf of Mexico deposited rich soils dark with nutrients and microorganisms making the area prolific in diverse native plant and animal species.
Before the area was settled, Blackland Prairies covered around 13 million acres and is now reduced to about 1% segmented throughout Texas. Through sustainable land management, many areas can return to these fertile prairies that once covered the heartland of Texas.

Just two hours a week outdoors can reduce stress, improve sleep, support a healthier immune system, and help us feel more connected to ourselves and our communities.
