Another beautiful collaboration with 🎨 and .smithkelley 📸💡.

RF: “Titled after the unnamed ships Odysseus and his sailors used to find their way home, this work is in conversation with a heritage of life and loss. It is an image of the beauty in banality: a life that is able to be safe and open because of those who came before us.
Taking notes from 17th century Dutch "Vanitas" works, the composition contains objects that carry with them specific symbolism or intention. These are our artifacts. These are the tools of leisure and love that define our life together; the overlooked detritus that tell our story. A candle is just sniffed out, a tangerine peel is tossed casually - despite a history (and ongoing attempt at) erasure, we are still here and we have only just left behind these little mementos.
Here are the little fragments of a life of two men who live together and love each other.”
