We’re going to miss her but we’re so happy to announce the retirement of Alicia Huerta, SRD Director of Housekeeping and wish her well in her next adventures! Thank you for your time, love, and dedication to SRD since 2006.

It’s SRD Saturday Story Time!
Did you have a curfew when you lived at SRD? What did you think about that? What would you think if they still had one?!

Dating Protocol
In 1964, we had phones in our rooms, but our calls came in from the outside through a switchboard. Mrs. LeBorde was the switchboard operator. Any visitor or date would come in and ask Mrs. LeBorde to call us down from our rooms to the front. Our visitors would wait in the front foyer until we came down from our rooms. Then, we had to sign in and out at the front desk. Our curfews were 11:00 P.M. on weeknights and midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday through Thursday, I signed out of the dorm by 7 P.M., went straight to the UGL (Undergraduate Library) to study. I walked back to sign in by 10 P.M. On weekends, if we had dates, sometimes we would pull up outside the dorm and park until they blinked the lights on the front porch. Those blinking lights meant we had five minutes to get in the dorm before we would be late for curfew. I never missed a curfew.

A little look around SRD. It’s so quiet without the residents!
