The day before I submitted my program rankings for , I switched my top two choices.
I matched with my first choice in Family Medicine👉🏻 so instead of ending up in NYC, I made my way to Atlanta.
Half way through my intern year, I discovered Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation👉🏻so I applied and transferred out of Family Medicine.
I was not accepted into a Sports Medicine fellowships👉🏻so I opted for one in Interventional Spine.
I intended to practice in a group or hospital setting but wanted more👉🏻so I opened up my own practice.
Today is Match Day.
Some medical students will be elated, some will be devastated.
There will be tears of joy, as well as tears of despair.
But as my story demonstrates, it’s a journey and thus, you must trust it.
Today, whatever it may bring, is not the end, it’s only the beginning. 🙏🏻
Congratulations to all the medical students!! 🙌🏻
Hang in there, you are well on your way.💕

Is it just me or are you also running low on resilience? With one crisis after another, it’s no wonder we are wearing thin.
The pandemic itself is hard enough. Throw in a heated election, a natural disaster and sprinkle that with a few personal struggles, no surprise it’s hard to see a way out, let alone a way forward.
I was fortunate to hear an interview on the other day on and it all made sense. Dr. Jeffery Temple, a psychologist at spoke about Maslow’s Pyramid (swipe images👉🏻)
When we are faced with multiple traumas, we need to go back to the basics. The bottom of the pyramid is our physiological needs. These are the needs that must be met as we begin to heal and recover. Only then can we begin the work towards self-actualization (top of the pyramid).
This week has been challenging. Losing my home was a major crack in my foundation. I haven’t slept well, have made poor diet choices and am overwhelmed with my business.
And as I start to come out of the mental haze of it all, I know I need to ground myself.
For me, that means getting rest, exercising and eating healthy.
And yes, my car is now a U-Haul truck. But I threw on some makeup anyway because hey, it never hurts to doll up.
What does it mean for you? What are your basic needs?

To all the hard-working, trail-blazing, ceiling-shattering lady docs out there.....
To saying YES when told no. To believing when it seems impossible. To being afraid but doing it anyways....
To balancing work and life. To caring for others with tenacity and humility. To lifting and supporting one another...
To the past for leading the way, to the present that keep inspiring and to the future that will no doubt break barriers...
To you. To me. To us. 🥂
💕HAPPY NATIONAL WOMEN’s PHYSICIAN DAY💕💕

Happy Friday y’all! 💕
It’s been about 36 hrs since receiving my second dose of the Moderna vaccine and today, I feel fantastic!😊
I did experience some side effects that began that evening, mainly a headache and body aches overnight and fatigue the next day. I medicated with alternating Tylenol and Advil, and rested all day. 😌
Every time the virus infects us, it has the opportunity to get smarter and adapt, leading to the variants that we are now seeing emerge. 😏
The only way we are going to beat this thing is if we take this virus out of the game. This vaccine is the way out!💯
👉🏻I vaccinate for my parents and other seniors.

A day of not feeling great is totally worth it. This morning, I feel hopeful and energized.🙏🏻
Honestly, I feel like I have a secret superpower! 🦸🏻♀️

Happy Monday, folks!
Meet my SMALL POX scar.
Although the small pox vaccination campaign in the US ended in 1972, as immigrants making our way here in 1979, we were required to receive it, so that there was no chance we would reintroduce the virus. I was five.
Many of you do not have this scar. Some of you never even thought about it. Because you didn’t have to.
⭐️⭐️Point.⭐️⭐️
This scar is a reminder of the power of science and medicine.
We are lucky to have these options. Miracles of medicine are developed to protect us so that we may live our life without the worry of overwhelming our healthcare system, without the worry of unnecessary illness and death.
The COVID-19 vaccine is nothing new. It’s the same story. The difference lies with science and research, which has come so far that we can take all that we’ve learned from years of viruses and pandemics, mix it with some new kickass technology, and make it happen safely and quickly.
I share this as a historical perspective that may shed some light, that history does repeat itself, and we should learn from it.
Be curious. Keep an open mind. And consider good resources to best inform yourself. I recommend these wonderful physicians that have your best health in mind. .risahoshino just for starters. We are on your side.
⭐️⭐️COVID19 vaccine coming my way January 6th!! 🙌🏻⭐️⭐️
