C’mon downtown Saturday as we offer a taste of four of delicious bubblies to help you welcome May! We’ll be featuring two of our favorite Crémants Blancs: one from the Loire crafted with 100% Pinot Noir and the other from Burgundy showing off 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Aligoté (the “other white grape” from Burgundy). Also on the tasting table: a sparkling Vouvray (Chenin Blanc) and a lovely Chardonnay + Pinot Noir sparkler from South Africa (yes, you read that right). All easy-drinking and superb values. We are stocked with a diverse, lovely selection of other sparkling wines for your summer celebrations and ready to help you at both our downtown and midtown locations!

TASTING INFO:
Spring rains (and now sun + humidity) are here! C’mon downtown Saturday for a taste of four vibrant Old World whites perfect for this weather! We’ll start off with a white blend from Orvieto in Central Italy featuring indigenous grapes you may not have heard of (Procanico,, Grechetto with a smaller portion of Verdello and Malvasia). We’ll follow with three French whites - a crisp, citrus-driven Organic Luberon Blanc made from mostly Vermentino (called Rolle in France), a white Bordeaux blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon from Pierre Lurton (Managing Director of Ch. Cheval Blanc) and we’ll wrap with an un-oaked Burgundian Chardonnay from the more southern climes of Saint-Véran…with a bit of something to satisfy both the minerality lover as well as someone who might prefer New World Chardonnay.

TASTING INFO:
Our elder wine buyer is off to France, first for a few days in Burgundy, then for the grueling tastings of the latest vintage of Bordeaux (2025s, not yet in bottle, mind you) at En Primeurs hosted by the Union Grand Crus Bordeaux. This is not the easiest part of the wine business, tasting young Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc/Merlot‑based wines at a seriously wicked pace. But, in our estimation, and in the effort to offer the best selection from Bordeaux to our discerning clientèle, it is work that must be done. But, it's also a good idea to keep a spare toothbrush handy. Come Saturday afternoon, we'll be showing a few bottles in a bit better place for enjoying in the here and now…So c’mon downtown for a taste!

“According to Jancis Robinson, Julia Harding and José Vouillamoz in their seminal tome Wine Grapes Sauvignon Blanc is the « parent of Cabernet Sauvignon producing increasingly appreciated aromatic, zesty, crisp whites ». We can but agree. And Sauvignon Blanc in its freshest, most mineral versions is among the more perfect foils for slaking a warm weather thirst and offering vinous refreshment in a way that few other white wines can. And, one can successfully serve them up well‑chilled without too noticeably diminishing their flavor. Come on downtown and see just how cold we can deliver a delicious taste of Sauvignon Blanc here in our well air‑conditioned environs. We'll be serving them up from atop the ice, just this side of a 'slushy thang’.”
