Donate Life America has introduced National Healthcare Decisions Day as an official observance this year. The day is set aside to inspire, educate and empower the public, including health care providers, about the importance of advance care planning.

People are being urged to initiate advance care discussions with family members. Advance care planning isn’t geared toward a specific age. At any age, a medical emergency could hinder someone too sick to make his or her own health care decisions.
It’s all about making sure you get the type of medical care you want. The major purpose of this day is to “speak up” and share your desires with loved ones. What better time to help encourage the act of registering as a lifesaving donor?
