Weekly Home Tips
For those who don’t know, Round Top, Texas opens up twice a year to miles of antique vendors, vintage finds, hidden treasures, beautiful pieces, and occasionally… really beautiful sales pitches. 😂
What’s funny is the reason I even started using the Google image search camera on my iPhone years ago had nothing to do with vintage shopping.
It actually started through my cleaning business.
I would have Downtown Austin clients with specialty flooring, natural stone counters, or unique surfaces that even THEY didn’t know the exact material or finish of. Before I cleaned anything, I wanted to know exactly what I was working with so I could research the safest way to properly care for it.
So I started using the Google image search camera to identify surfaces, materials, finishes, and products before cleaning them.
I just personalized this for my antique shopping. 😂
Now before I buy vintage pieces, I use it to figure out:
• if something is truly rare
• what it’s selling for elsewhere
• whether the “designer story” is accurate
• if it’s mass produced
• or if someone simply got creative with pricing
I think attention to detail follows you everywhere.
Whether I’m caring for luxury condos in Downtown Austin or walking through Round Top antique fields, I’ve learned that experience usually comes from being willing to slow down, research, and look a little closer.
