The data on valve choice is now very clear in patients < 60 years old.
According to a new analysis of the STS database published in JACC, choosing a mechanical prosthesis is independently associated with a significant survival benefit over bioprosthetic AVR in patients 60 years of age and younger (1).
Choose On-X Aortic, the only mechanical valve to provide patients an 87% lower bleeding risk with less anticoagulation (INR 1.5-2.0) (2).
