Two weeks ago I shared a dream I had in September 2009 and a related numinous experience I had in September 2018, the latter of which included the plant, Boneset.
My life is always full of synchronicity so, I was not surprised to learn that one of my favorite herbal teachers was offering an hour long lecture on Boneset yesterday as part of her Monthly Herbal Council series.
I’ve participated in three of her month-long Plant Diets, which I have thoroughly enjoyed, but never in her Herbal Council. I’m so glad I did! I learned so much!
After it was over I took her lead and researched about the herbs that doctors used successfully to treat people during the 1918 pandemic. Boneset was one of the most effective herbal treatments! Interesting huh?
And...in perfect timing...the Boneset growing near me is at the perfect stage for harvesting to make into medicine! Jen explained that the budding flowers, before they are completely opened, is the best time. Of course, I’m not surprised! The plants are always speaking to me and showing up in perfect timing. I’m forever grateful for what they give to us.
Lastly, as I was taking these photos of my full basket (made by the beautiful ), a pretty red winged dragonfly landed on my Boneset! If you scroll back through my Instagram feed to the beginning of 2020, you’ll see a red winged dragonfly that appeared and which I took to be a bit of a spirit guide for this coming year. Coincidence? I don’t think so!
Also new shoes! :)

For our current global situation, I was called by Red Buckeye to make a flower essence. To my knowledge, I am an unaware of any others creating Red Buckeye flower essence; however, it is related to the Chestnuts and to the Buckeyes in California, which have been used for flower essences. I get a strong sense that this essence will provide many of the same energy qualities to help with fear and anxiety. The chestnuts and Buckeyes are especially good at quieting the “monkey mind” of obsessive or unwanted thoughts so that we can mental clarity and inner peace.
For added help in relieving stress and worry and providing a soothing balm for the soul— as well as much needed courage— I have added Citrine, Carnelian, Lepidolite, Rose Quartz, Kyanite, Shungite and Peach Moonstone.
