Happy Fourth of July!

Today, we join Americans across this great nation in celebrating the birth of the United States of America and the historic milestone of our nation’s 250th birthday. This is more than a holiday. It is a day to celebrate freedom, give thanks, honor service and sacrifice, and reflect on the extraordinary story of America.

For 250 years, the United States has stood as a beacon of liberty, opportunity, courage, and resilience. From the patriots who declared our independence, to the generations who defended our freedoms, to the citizens who continue to serve their communities every day, America’s strength has always come from its people.

Texas has always held a proud and important place in the history and spirit of our nation. The Texas spirit — independence, toughness, faith, service, and love of country — reflects the very best of America.

We carry that legacy forward with our commitment to service, readiness, and community.

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we also pause in remembrance. One year ago, Central Texas, the Hill Country, Kerrville, and surrounding communities experienced devastating floods that changed lives forever. On this Fourth of July, we remember those who were lost, the families who continue to grieve, and the communities still healing and rebuilding. We also give thanks for the first responders, service members, volunteers, neighbors, and local leaders who answered the call and showed the very best of Texas in a time of tragedy.

This day reminds us that America is defined not only by celebration but also by resilience. In moments of hardship, Texans and Americans come together. We serve, we support, we rebuild, and we move forward without forgetting those impacted.

To each of you, thank you for your service, dedication, professionalism, and continued commitment. Your willingness to serve your fellow Texans and your communities reflects the values that make our state and nation strong. Please be safe as you celebrate with your family and friends.

On this Fourth of July, let us celebrate America, honor our past, remember those we have lost, and look forward with gratitude, unity, and pride.
