After nearly nine years behind the bar and at the heart of The Roosevelt Room, Matthew Korzelius has officially turned the page to his next chapter.

Matty’s journey is one few will replicate. He started as a bartender, proving himself not only as a technician of the craft but also as a leader of people. From there, he progressed to Assistant Bar Manager, Bar Manager, Assistant General Manager, and ultimately became a Business Partner and Co-Owner. At every step, he didn’t just rise—he redefined it.

What made Matty so special wasn’t only his talent behind the bar or his understanding of hospitality, but his ability to understand people. He is one of the most empathetic and emotionally intelligent people we’ve worked with. He had a way of seeing the real you, cutting through noise and meeting people where they were. That ability shaped our culture and created a real connection across the team.

If you’ve ever heard one of Matty’s speeches, you know their impact. Thoughtful and intentional, he had a gift for saying exactly what needed to be said in a way that stayed with you long after. More than once, his words brought a room to a standstill—and a few of us to tears.

Of course, there’s more to Matty than meets the eye: a karaoke voice that could steal any staff party, a deep devotion to the Buffalo Bills, and a questionable love for Cucumber-Lime Gatorade. Those quirks are part of his legacy, too.

While this marks the end of his day-to-day role, Matty will remain involved over the coming months to help ensure a smooth transition—a reflection of his professionalism and care for what he helped build. His impact on The Roosevelt Room is lasting, not just in what he created, but in how he made people feel.

We’re grateful for everything he gave to the business, the team, and all of us personally. Proud of him, thankful for the journey, and excited for what comes next.

Cheers to you, Matty. And of course, Go Bills!

Rich, balanced, and endlessly intriguing, the Blood & Sand is a cocktail that continues to stand the test of time.

First crafted in 1922 at London’s Savoy Hotel, this Prohibition-era classic was named after the Rudolph Valentino film of the same name. Nearly a century later, it remains a masterclass in harmony, blending smoky, sweet, and citrus notes into one unforgettable sip.

Our version combines our RR Blended Scotch, 10-Year Single Malt Scotch, RR Sweet Vermouth blend, Cherry Heering, fresh Orange juice, and a touch of salt to bring it all together.

Join us tonight and experience this timeless classic for yourself.

Cheers to you!

Join us at The Roosevelt Room for the next installment of our Master Class Series: Home Bartending 201.

This advanced course builds on the fundamentals and dives deeper into the techniques that elevate cocktails from good to exceptional. Led by members of our talented bar team, this two-hour class will cover professional bar tools, advanced mixing methods, batching, garnishing, and how to craft frozen, blended, and hot cocktails like a pro.

Guests will enjoy three cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while learning the stories behind these beloved drinks. We’ll also take an in-depth look at one of the most important elements of great cocktails — ice — including how it influences preparation and techniques for sourcing and cutting large, clear cubes.

After the class concludes, guests are welcome to stick around and enjoy our Sunday Happy Hour starting at 3 pm.

For this month’s spotlight, we’re featuring Robbie Escobedo, whose passion for genuine hospitality makes him a key part of our team.

Originally from the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, Robbie spent several years in Bryan & College Station working in hospitality before making his way to Austin. His appreciation for personable service is what inspired him to join the industry—and it’s something guests feel every shift.

Since joining The Roosevelt Room in November 2023, Robbie has worn many hats, but he is now one of our seasoned servers, ensuring that our standards for table service are upheld and felt by all. Outside of work, he enjoys exploring the scenic views around Austin.

He truly lives by the words of Danny Meyer: “Hospitality exists when you believe that the other person is on your side.” Come visit him soon, knowing that you'll be in great hands.

Cheers to Robbie!

Today, we celebrate a spirit dating back to the medieval monks of Ireland and Scotland. A storied spirit uniquely produced around the globe. A liquor so beloved worldwide, it became one of the most popular bases for classic cocktails and sparked a rebellion in the U.S.

Join us for and enjoy a pour or two of the 250+ world-class whiskies stocked on our shelves, or sip one of our classic creations like our Roosevelt Room Old Fashioned, expertly created with Bourbon, Demerara syrup, bitters, Cocktail Kingdom Wormwood bitters, and an Orange peel.

And if you really want to treat yourself, order one of the President's versions of this classic with a base of our own Roosevelt Room Single Barrel Private Select Bourbon or Single Barrel Cask Strength Rye.
