Why should you get permanent life insurance for your kids and why you should get it TODAY vs the future.
Get it when they are young and healthy.
🚩 High likelihood of denial or postponement
These conditions signal elevated mortality risk or unstable prognosis:
• Active or recent cancer/leukemia
• Severe congenital heart defects
• Advanced cystic fibrosis
• Severe muscular dystrophy
• Progressive neurological disorders
• Organ failure or transplant history
• Severe genetic/metabolic disorders
• Uncontrolled seizure disorders
• Type 1 diabetes with complications
• HIV/AIDS
• Severe pulmonary hypertension
Often these cases are postponed until stabilization, remission, or a waiting period passes.
⸻
⚠ Moderate-to-high underwriting concern
(may be rated, postponed, or declined depending on severity)
• Type 1 diabetes (well controlled vs brittle matters a lot)
• Epilepsy/seizure disorders
• Congenital heart abnormalities (repaired vs unrepaired)
• Cerebral palsy (moderate/severe forms)
• Autism spectrum disorder (functional level matters)
• ADHD with behavioral complications
• Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
• Chronic kidney disease
• Severe asthma
• Genetic syndromes (Down syndrome, etc.)
• Eating disorders
• Severe obesity with complications
These are heavily evaluated for:
✔ Control
✔ Compliance with treatment
✔ Functional impact
✔ Hospital history
⸻
🟡 Situational concerns (case-by-case underwriting)
These don’t automatically cause denial but can trigger scrutiny:
• Mental health disorders with hospitalization
• Behavioral disorders with high-risk behavior
• Developmental delays
• Mild seizure history
• Family history of early mortality diseases
• Premature birth complications
⸻
✅ Usually insurable (standard or near-standard)
When stable and documented:
• Mild ADHD
• Mild asthma
• Corrected heart murmurs
• Learning disabilities
• Seasonal allergies
• Past fractures/surgeries
• Mild anxiety
⸻
What underwriters look at most
For youth cases, carriers care about:
• Stability of condition
• Treatment compliance
• Hospitalizations
• Functional ability
• Prognosis into adulthood
• Specialist follow-up
• Medication history
Sometimes they’ll issue:
👉 Rated policies
👉 Lower face amounts
👉 Graded benefit plans
👉 Postponements
instead of outright denial.

On this day... 24 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,731 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001.
In one single moment life may never be the same. Tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.
Thoughts go out to the families displaced by the flooding as well as the families who have young children missing or have confirmed that they did not make it from the flooding events happening here in Texas.
Unimaginable and unexpected.

Different way of looking at things…
We insure things that are important to us but have you ever thought about
“What do I do if I’m hurt and can’t earn my paycheck anymore?”
Disability insurance should be in everyone’s financial plan.
1 in 4 people will be disabled for at least 6 months before retiring according to the Social Security Administration… 25% is a huge number. https://www.ssa.gov/oact/NOTES/ran6/an2022-6.pdf
