What an amazing day! Thanks to our team of volunteers and generous clients who helped make a dream room possible for four precious foster children! There’s more work to be done, but what a fun and productive day!

A dining room upgrade just in time for the holidays! Here’s what we did:

The homeowner treasured their antique dining set but felt the whole room was a little dark. We switched out the rug for a natural fiber (the Persian rug was moved to another room with more natural light and it really shines there). We added white host chairs, and hung a gorgeous antique chandelier that was a family heirloom. We also added custom drapes and new art. The whole effect is non-stuffy but elevated, and feels much lighter and brighter.

Want to make a transformation in your own home in 2024? We are now accepting new clients starting this Spring. Message me the word DESIGN to learn about our process.

Books are a huge part of how we style spaces. They add interest and subtle (and not so subtle) variations in color and height in a bookcase, and on side tables or consoles.

We often start by raiding the homeowners own books (hardbacks only!) then add in finds from Half Price Books (try taking off the outer jackets to see if the color of the actual book works with the color scheme you are going for) and our own library of unique decorative books.

We’ve learned over the years that we need many more books than we expect. We always buy “extra” and they always get used. It’s hard to imagine styling a space without beautiful books!

Bookcase perfection….swipe to see the before. We wanted this area to have a library/study feel but also provide a colorful backdrop to the black piano. To achieve this, we used a mixture of the client’s own books and objects and added in additional older books in various hues. We grouped group colors together to make the whole effect more interesting, and added in several of their family treasures.

The result is a pulled-together and sophisticated, but fun, display that plays beautifully off their antique chandelier and the piano as the centerpieces in the room.

Sometimes it’s best to keep accessories clean, simple, and unfussy!

This kitchen got a major upgrade! See the after and before photos. The homeowners wanted a freshen up, but the cabinets and layout were all in good condition. We replaced the countertops with new quartz, added a handmade tile backsplash, and painted the island. Added new bar stools and accessories and it became a totally different space. You don’t always have to rip out and start over, but it’s important to know where to focus your investment and energy.

The homeowners are in love with their kitchen again and entertain regularly.

Is your bar cart ready for holiday hosting? Here are 4 things I love to include in a well-styled and functional bar cart:

1. A pretty tray to corral your bottles or glassware: this could be a vintage silver tray, rattan, or enamel. Round or square can both work well, experiment!
2. A lamp: I love a small lamp on a bar cart. It adds instant ambiance!
3. Art work or a mirror: If your bar cart is against the wall, consider hanging a mirror or painting over the cart. Even layer in a tiny painting right in the cart.
4. Finishing touches: I always raid my client's home for small meaningful decorative items for their bar cart: little crystal dishes, vintage bar implements, small cocktail recipe books, etc. I am not a big "clutter" person in my designs, but in a collected way it's nice to have a place to display some of your small treasures.

Bottoms up!

We love to help our clients style their home, message for info on our process.

We cannot wait to see these mood boards come to life in our North Carolina beach house project.

Our clients are building an oceanfront forever home. They are working with a wonderful builder but wanted support in making the best and most cohesive design selections to give them the home of their dreams while maximizing their budget. We have made selections for every room in the house (including 3 floors and 5 bathrooms)! Our clients report feeling much more confident in moving forward. This is a giant project but we help with projects of every size!

Message us if you'd like to learn more about our design consulting process for new builds and renovations!
