Belize offers world-class scuba diving on the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world, and three rare offshore atolls. The area around your trip's base, Ambergris Caye, features excellent local diving at sites like the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley, where divers frequently encounter nurse sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, and vibrant reef fish.

The most famous dive is the Great Blue Hole (an optional all-day excursion on our trip), a massive marine sinkhole famed for its geological formations, including giant stalactites at depth. Diving conditions in January are ideal, falling within the peak dry season, which provides calm seas, warm water (around 79 to 81 degrees F), and exceptional visibility, often exceeding 100 feet.

Belize's marine ecosystem is diverse, protected within its Barrier Reef Reserve System, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can expect to see healthy coral gardens, Caribbean reef sharks, eagle rays, and numerous species of colorful reef fish year-round, making it a spectacular destination for both novice and advanced divers.
