An offering of love and a boost of energy to a new mama ♥️
It’s neither Ayurvedic nor your typical, warm & soft postpartum fayre, but when brought these chocolate, peanut butter & date bars to me in my hot summer postpartum, I struggled not to eat the whole lot in one sitting! The sweet, salty pick-me-up was pure heaven!
And so I love to make it for the families I work with. (Tired Dads and hungry kids love them too!)
And that’s how we create new traditions.
Mama roared her 4th baby Earth-side in an intense and wonderful 3 hour freebirth. She didn’t leave her bathroom sanctuary throughout! It was my honour to support her, how beautifully she flowed and trusted.
I used dates, sprouted oats, chia, h**p hearts, coconut oil, cacao nibs, peanut butter and dark chocolate. And sprinkled with rose, bee pollen and sea salt.
So The Birth Freedom Project is officially live in Austin, Texas y’all!
Aaand The Freebirth Ireland Network will be gathering live in Ireland in August, date and location coming soon, watch this space! Can’t wait to see you, women! ♥️

🪷✨LOTUS BORN ✨🪷
I’d resisted exploring lotus birth until very late in this pregnancy, knowing deep down it would resonate and I’d have no choice once I fully understood the roots and reason of this tradition.
I witnessed my dear friend in the inspiring lotus birth of her beautiful Merlin and then finally dove into “Placenta, the forgotten chakra” by Robin Lim.
Her amazing stories about placental stimulation reviving stillborns and compelling evidence about it as the seat of life with so much innate intelligence really spoke to me.
As did the fascinating history of severing the cord being related to intentionally limiting a baby’s capacity to love and connect. Creating warrior tribes - killers, through early severance from the mother and placenta.
When Artie’s cord detached from her belly with a ‘ping’ late at night on her 4th day, her eyes pinged wide open and she made a surprised ‘Oh!’ Shape with her mouth.
We gazed into each other’s eyes and I said “it’s OK sweetheart, you’ve landed now. Welcome” ☺️ it was such a special moment.
In the interim, we moved so slowly and mindfully with her, staying so close to the bed, no cuddles from visitors, no clothes for either of us… and the herbs smelt like fresh hay and flowers. We were still swimming in the liminal newborn space together.
We closed the circle by burying her placenta under the tree where her great grandmother Violet’s ashes were scattered. The tree we planted from a conker as children is now a towering horse chestnut.
I’m sure they already know eachother, and will dance together in those woods night after night 🥰
