Even if your roof was replaced due to a claim, the insurance company does not automatically update your policy.

Why does auto insurance go up?

As an independent insurance agent, I have seen sizeable increases among all insurance companies this year unfortunately. Of all the elements an auto insurance policy covers, all costs continue to rise at a significant rate. Think about actual car parts, labor, medical expenses, lawsuits/legal fees, towing and rental cars. Cars these days are much more complicated to repair and take longer to do so. Aside from the actual part, think about vehicle sensors, cameras and recalibration requirements. Longer repair times also result in a longer need and expense for rental cars. Catalytic converters are being stolen at an alarming rate, something rarely heard of just a few years ago.

Some may say my vehicle is going down in value, so why doesn't my insurance go down? The vast majority of claims are for repairs, not replacements, so whether your car is new or 5 years old, repair costs are going to be fairly similar.
