The government shutdown could end as soon as today despite some Texas lawmakers standing firm on voting no on the funding bill. On Monday, partial SNAP payments started going out to recipients. I talked to a mother who says while she's grateful she received something, it's not sustainable. Even if the government reopens, processing requirements for full benefits will vary by state.

It’s official, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) posted a notice on its website saying SNAP benefits won’t be issued on Nov. 1 due to the government shutdown I talked to SNAP recipients and state lawmakers about the impact.
