The first girl of the year!

Oh, what a wonderful birth!
Also, a first for me at the end of this story…
This mama’s water broke at 0330 and labor was a sloooooow roll!
By 0900 she was settling in the hospital and working through early/active labor.
Her preference was to do this naturally with no pain medications.
Throughout the day, I was on standby and partner was by her side helping her ride each contraction as a wave.
As he needed support, he would reach out and ask for tips, pointers, and words of affirmation.
Even in the unknown and so far away, it felt so peaceful.
At 1600 I was told it is go-time, and asked to join them at the hospital. Mama was not speaking through the contractions and felt so much pressure down low.
I notified my birth partner and we grabbed our go-bags and headed out.
The arrival time started to grow as traffic began to slow and I prayed “Lord let us make it and give her the strength to endure.”
You just never know with a multigravida/para birther.
I arrived at the hospital right at 1700 and was in the room by 1705!
Labor progressed insanely fast and she went from 6cm to 10 cm with 40 minutes!
At 1803 her beautiful baby boy was born peacefully, with a full head of hair and one tooth (yup, you heard that right)!
In the words of this mama immediately after birth…
“Oh, thank you Lord.” He truly filled that space.

Sometimes a baby just needs a little wiggle!

We used the rebozo to help shift baby from an OP to OA position, and we were successful, moments later a precious baby boy was brought into this room!
