In Remembrance of Charles Walker Thorp, my 3rd Great Uncle
Charles Walker Thorp was born on February 18, 1851, in Travis County, Texas. His father, William Pleasant Thorp, was 50 and his mother, Elizabeth Sweet Walker, was 26. He passed away on December 8, 1899, at the age of 48.
He married Zenith Susan "Zena" Womack on June 27,1872 in Travis County, Texas and to this union was four sons and three daughters.
He served as Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, during 1897-1899 in Travis County, Texas.

Prominent Citizen Dies.
Special to The Register.
Austin, Dec. 8 - Charles W. Thorp, one of the most prominent citizens of Travis county, died this morning at 7 o'clock at his home at McNeil, this county, a small town on the International & Great Northern railway.
Deceased was a brother of City Marshal Alden Jackson Thorp of this city, and was 46 years of age. He was one of the best known men and most popular in this part of the county. McNeil has been his home for the past 25 years and during that time he had been actively engaged in the mercantile pursuits and up to the time of his death he was the manager of one of the largest firms in that place.
A wife and seven children survive him, four boys and three girls, all of whom reside at the family home with the exception of one that is married.
The remains will be interred in the cemetery at Merrilltown, which is near the home of the deceased.
