🧠Think you need every acid on this chart? You probably don’t. 👀

🙌🏻One of the biggest skincare myths is that more acids = better skin. In reality, the right acid depends on your skin goals.

✨ Glycolic Acid is the overachiever. Great for dull skin, uneven texture, fine lines, and sun damage because it penetrates deeper than other AHAs.

✨ Lactic Acid is the gentler cousin. If you’re dry, sensitive, or new to exfoliation, lactic acid exfoliates while helping skin stay hydrated.

✨ Mandelic Acid is one of my favorites for acne-prone or reactive skin. Its larger molecule means slower pe*******on, making it less irritating while still helping with pigmentation and breakouts.

✨ Salicylic Acid is the blackhead assassin. Because it’s oil-soluble, it can get into pores and help clear congestion, making it ideal for oily skin and acne.

✨ Azelaic Acid is the underrated MVP. It helps with redness, acne, rosacea-prone skin, and post-inflammatory pigmentation without the irritation many people experience from stronger acids.

✨ Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) isn’t really an exfoliating acid at all. Think brightening, antioxidant protection, collagen support, and helping defend your skin from environmental damage.

✨ Hyaluronic Acid is also a little misleading. It’s not an exfoliator. It’s a humectant that attracts water to the skin and helps keep it hydrated. Just remember to seal it in with a moisturizer.

🚨 Before you start layering three acids, two retinoids, and whatever TikTok told you to buy this week… ask yourself what problem you’re actually trying to solve. The best skincare routine isn’t the most expensive or complicated one. It’s the one that matches your skin.
