Sometimes a song finds you at the exact moment you need it.

When I discovered , they became more than a band to me. They were tattooed Rockeros making heavy music while speaking openly about their faith in God. At fifteen years old, that showed me I did not have to choose between who I was spiritually and the music that made me feel alive.

“Southtown” became my anthem because I was a kid from the South Side, and I was proud of it.

Esa canción me hizo sentir representado. Me enseñó que podía hablar de Dios, llevar mis raíces conmigo y seguir avanzando con toda la fuerza del Rock N Roll.

That is the power music can have. One song can give someone permission to become who they were already meant to be.

Long before I understood what an artist was, music had already started showing me who I could become.

opened my imagination. Singing in church introduced me to the feeling of standing in front of people. Then , , and Nirvana showed me a world where music could be loud, fearless and completely free.

En ese momento yo todavía no sabía qué significaba todo eso. Solamente sabía que cuando cantaba, soñaba o veía a esos artistas, sentía que podía volar.

Looking back now, I realize Jimmy Swagg was not created in one studio session or one city. He was being formed through every sound, every stage and every moment that made that kid feel alive.
