Travis County to buy big swath of former Hill Country ranch for huge public park - Austin Business Journal The godfather of Austin's tech scene bought a ranch in the 1970s. Now, his descendants are selling the property to Travis County, which plans to turn it into a park and shield it from development. It will be more than four times the size of Zilker Park.

I've been upset on more than a few occasions. Austin will never be on this list and my heart breaks for buyers who feel priced out of Austin by the price hike of the early 2020's and now the interest rates. Being born and raised here in Austin - I've seen it change ....and some is not for the best....like these types of problems. BUUUUUT, I do want to offer some . Did you know that there are some amazing price cuts and seller - both in the new-build market AND resale markets that could reduce your rate to sub 4's?

For example new homes in the Meritage Homes Morning Star neighborhood in
are offering 3% of the base price to be used towards closing cost or a rate buy down and paid owner title policy plus a 5.875% fixed rate (Home must close by 12/18/23).

or

3.875% 1st year
4.875% 2nd Year
5.87% Years 3-30
Partial paid closing cost and paid owner title policy
(Home must close by 12/18/23).

They even have incentive for Investors:

I'm saying this because it makes me sad that now that the house prices are more "achievable" and the COVID price spike is over - that the interest rates are now making buyers feel hopeless.
