Austin just got ranked the number one job growth metro out of the 50 largest in the country for 2025. That comes from Opportunity Austin, citing the latest BLS benchmark numbers.

The headline numbers:
27,200 new jobs added in 2025
2% job growth, twice the Texas rate and four times the national rate
3.7% unemployment in Austin metro, compared to 4.3% in Texas and the US

This is the part I want my local clients and friends to hear. National real estate headlines have been nervous for a while now. But a job market this strong, with unemployment this low, is one of the biggest reasons housing demand in South Austin, Buda, Kyle, and Bastrop has stayed steady while other metros have softened. It does not mean prices are about to take off again. It does mean the underlying engine is still running.
