Sonyashnyk

Sonyashnyk dance, “Mriya” which means “Dream” — is a story about life, resilience and hope. It reflects the journey through hardship and trials and the unwavering belief that even after the darkest moments, a dream can still come true.

For every Ukrainian, “Mriya” carries deep symbolism. It represents life itself — much like the legendary Antonov An-225 Mriya, the world-famous plane that became a symbol of national pride before it was destroyed by Russian forces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Though the aircraft was lost, what it stood for was not.

This dance is also a tribute to the dreams of broken hearts and to our fallen heroes, whose sacrifice allows our nation’s dream to live on. Their hearts continue to beat as one with the hearts of all Ukrainians. Through movement, music and spirit, we honor their courage and carry their hope forward.

Because a dream cannot be destroyed.
