Texas finally pushed this law through, banning Chinese, Russian and other foreign nationals from land ownership in TX (with a few exceptions, such as one homestead purchase permitted for "lawfully present" individuals); the law even appears to prohibit leases of a year or more. While it's already being challenged on constitutional grounds, per the lawyers, "[t]he law has generated significant concern among real estate professionals and business leaders, who warn that the restrictions could deter foreign investment, create legal uncertainties, and potentially foster discrimination. Starting Sept. 1, new Texas law will ban certain foreign nationals from buying land Senate Bill 17 will bar people tied to China, Iran, North Korea or Russia from buying most Texas real estate, including farmland, homes and commercial property.

A good reminder to make sure that you have alerts set up with your water provider! My tenants were *on it* when they got this leak notice, and we had the water cut off that morning, before the slab leak could cause foundation damage. Also always good for homeowners to have a water meter key on hand to turn off water to the house, and to know where the city water cut off is for your house!
