Through my work with Augusta Locally Grown, I'm able to see all of the efforts going on quietly, daily, to convince people, and to empower them to adapt to a local food system. Whether that's growing your own in a garden at home, cultivating a shared plot, or by buying groceries from local farmers. It can't happen without support, knowledge and resources, which is where ALG comes in.

This video is from the Earth Day celebration at Allen Homes, local housing community, the site of a new community garden developed by Black Farm Street Inc. A collaborative project, the communal garden will provide the area with fresh produce and the chance to build connections. It's a most fundamental act of support, and it will be vital as we go forward. It was literally the most appropriate celebration of Earth Day ❤️

We're facing a major food crisis, and we're about to see a radical overhaul of our food distribution systems, farming policies and local agriculture operations. To combat this, we need to grow as much of our own food as possible, create food sovereignty at a local level, as Chuck said, which is my current focus.

In fact, I started watching This is a Gardening Show by Zach Galifianakis, and he said he thought our future can only be agrarian. I agree 💯 The system we have now is unsustainable and we need to do better.

Have you noticed this shift? Are you growing veggies or anything at home? I'm obsessed with my blueberries, peppers, cabbage and tomatoes. I also have catnip, basil, thyme and lavender. What else do we need to change to accommodate this new way of life?
