There is nothing more humbling than trying to talk trash with a friend who insists on being emotionally mature.

I just needed April to agree with me ONE time.

Not “she made a poor choice.”

Not “she seems difficult.”

I needed something with a little seasoning on it.

Unfortunately, some people are too healthy to be useful in these moments.

There is no word more suspicious than a woman saying, “It’s fine.” Especially when she says it casually, walks in like nothing happened, and expects her therapist friend not to notice that her entire nervous system just entered the room first.

April heard “fine” and immediately started gathering evidence. 😂

This is why having a therapist friend is both comforting and deeply inconvenient. You cannot lie, deflect, minimize, or casually skip over the part where you were absolutely not fine.
