Weekend Fam Goals

I almost didn’t go.

Not because I didn’t believe in why I was there…
I was in DC advocating for something I genuinely care about as a mom. But the idea of standing up and using my voice in a room full of policymakers? That terrified me. Public speaking has never been my thing.

And then, right in the middle of pushing myself through one of the more nerve-wracking things I’ve done — my phone buzzed. My daughter, calling to tell me about a big “first” of her own. 😭

I stepped out, took the call, had the sweetest mom-daughter moment from hundreds of miles away and then walked back in to finish what I came to do.

Two women, two scary “firsts,” same day. I couldn’t make that up if I tried.

My voice shook. I said what I came to say anyway. And somewhere on the other end of the phone, my girl was doing something brave too.

Here’s to showing up.
