Watching such a faithful depiction of Old Florida was like flipping through the pages of my family’s scrapbook. The iconic sounds of the Allman Bros brought me back to our summer road trips down Crystal River; the town church looked just like those rural sanctuaries we passed along the state highway; even the glass doorknobs were identical to the ones at my grandmother’s house. Every last detail, perfected by , , John Rusack, and Lauren Spalding, , lures you into its nostalgic web. That’s what makes so terrifying. The film shows us how our positive illusions, our false beliefs in a rose colored world, can lead us utterly astray.
