🎉📚 Our Books, BBQ & Building Connections event was a HUGE success! ❤️🔥

We were honored to convene incredible community partners, pediatricians, leaders, advocates, and supporters from across Georgia to celebrate Reach Out and Read Georgia being named the recipient of the Georgia Reads Community Grant! 🏆📖

A special thank you to Chairman Johnson and the Georgia Council on Literacy for presenting a $20,000 check to Executive Director, Amy Erickson in recognition of the critical role pediatricians play in preparing Georgia’s children for lifelong learning and academic success from the very earliest days of life. 👶🩺📚✨ What a bonus to have our new National CEO, Dr. Lynette Fraga and the American Academy of Pediatrics President and our Georgia Medical Director, Dr. Terri McFadden attend! The highlight was hearing from Malcolm Mitchell, Georgia’s Literacy Coach and longstanding friend! 📚🏈

What an unforgettable day filled with partnership, purpose, connection, celebration and BBQ! 🤝💫📚

A special thanks to The Family Health Centers of Georgia, Inc. for hosting our event. 🤍

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness and strengthening our collective commitment to protecting children and supporting families in our community. Since 2016, Reach Out and Read Georgia has partnered with the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, Office of Prevention and Support who recognizes prevention and early interventions yield the most promising of results for families across Georgia.

Yesterday we were honored to stand alongside our partners at Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia and the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services to kick off Child Abuse Prevention Month. We wore blue—the color symbolizing child abuse prevention—to show our support and help raise awareness.

A special thank you to Governor Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp for taking the time to recognize the vital role prevention plays in supporting children and families.
