As our country reflects on 250 years, we come together to honor the ongoing journey toward freedom for all. Juneteenth brings us together to recognize the strength, resilience, and amazing contributions of Black Americans, from emancipation in Galveston to the heart of Atlanta’s civil rights movement.

Juneteenth is also part of our two-week Civic Season festivities, inviting everyone to get involved and make a difference.

Today we remember the life of Congressman David Scott, a 12-term representative and first Black chairman of the House Agricultural Committee, who passed today at the age of 80.
