Bishop Rob Wright
In business, there is something called the “ask.” It’s the moment of truth in the conversation. The request. The whole point. Jesus’ ask is for us to live as he lives, without fear! In 15 verses, Jesus asks us not to be afraid three times. He wants us to know freedom of fear as he does. His asks are specific, don’t be afraid of God’s truth and speak out-loud those things that God whispers to us. And don’t be afraid of physical death. Those who can kill the body can’t kill the soul. Neither our faith tradition or our nation would be anywhere without the people who took these words to heart. And the last ask is don’t fear that you lack significance and value in God’s eyes. You are precious! So is your neighbor! Somehow, God has every hair on our heads numbered.
Matthew 10:24-39
Every new chapter in the life of the Church is about more than one person. It’s an invitation for an entire community to step forward in faith. A new beginning. A fresh calling. A reminder that God is not finished with us yet. The work of Christ extends far beyond church walls. There is still healing to bring, hope to share, and lives to touch. The question is not whether God is moving in the world—the question is whether we will join Him.
