Help us Repair the HVAC at the Community Animal Center!

Two air conditioning units serving the dog kennels at LifeLine's Community Animal Center need new compressors. The combined cost of HVAC repairs and rental of a temporary cooling system is estimated to be $50,000.

The comfort and safety of the animals in our care is our top priority. Until the repairs are completed in 6-8 weeks, we are renting temporary air conditioning units to properly cool the kennels.

Our shelter management and veterinary teams are confident that the shelter will remain safe and comfortable for the dogs, staff and volunteers throughout the repairs.

Our Community Animal Center was designed with a specialized HVAC system that circulates 100% fresh air throughout the building, which is essential to preventing the spread of illness.

We are asking our community of supporters to help us cover these unexpected expenses while continuing to provide safe, comfortable shelter and care for every animal who comes through our doors.

This is your DeKalb pulse check before Take ’Em Home Tuesday!

DeKalb County Animal Services is starting the week 36 dogs over our target capacity. Yesterday, that number was 41.

One of the reasons it dropped? Rhett, Brett, and Bow.

I brought this litter of three puppies home to foster, and that one “yes” helped reduce the shelter population by three dogs. That is how fostering and adoption directly impact capacity, create space, and help reduce the number of dogs who may face urgent outcomes later in the week.

LifeLine operates DeKalb County Animal Services as part of Atlanta’s lifesaving system, and every foster or adopter gives our teams more options for the animals in our care.

If you’re passionate like me and have room for a litter, a puppy duo, or even one puppy, fostering is a powerful way to help. Not ready for puppies? We also have so many beautiful adult dogs waiting for their perfect match.
