It’s not too late to join Summer Reading at Georgia public libraries! With this year’s theme, “Unearth a Story”, dinosaurs are taking over libraries, and there has never been a better time for families to dig into the joy of reading and discover all their library has to offer.

From fossil digs to family history, the library is the place to unearth your very own story. Families will have many opportunities to explore creativity, develop social skills, and have fun while reading. Many programs run until August.

Libraries are vital community centers that support Georgians at every stage of life. When Patricia moved to Manchester, 65 miles southwest of Atlanta, one of her first stops was the Manchester Public Library to try their chair yoga program.

“The library is my community center,” she said. “You get to know people, and they become your social circle.”

Patricia visits the library several times a week for the Sip and Stitch book club, Lunch and Learns, and more. She’s also an ambassador for the library’s value in the community.

“I was at the local grocery store, and a woman said to me, ‘What do I do with my kids in the summer?’ I told her that the library has programs for kids to read, learn, and do crafts and activities, all for free,” she said.
