I thank my parents for being my being my rock and for doing the impossible.

I thank my father for calling our local radio stations in New York and demanding the communities support.

I thank my mother who sat by me and held my hand.

I thank my grandmother for consistently reminding me of my beauty.

I thank my big sister for the countless hours she invested in created hair do's for me, first in thought, then by hand to cover my scars.

I thank my stepfather for forcing me back into the kitchen.

I thank my first women's group for supporting me through the process of facing my fears around wearing my natural hair?

I thank my best friend for always being my champion when I couldn't be?

I thank my younger siblings and children for the compassion and patience they've exhibited on this journey of me learning how to SHINE as my authentic self.
