Fireworks season is here, and July 4th can be one of the most stressful times of year for pets.

A few important reminders for Atlanta pet parents:
✔️ Make sure ID tags and microchip information are current
✔️ Keep pets indoors during fireworks
✔️ Close windows, blinds, and curtains to reduce noise and flashes
✔️ Use background noise, music, or TV for comfort
✔️ Exercise dogs earlier in the day before celebrations begin

Most importantly, never bring pets to fireworks displays, even if you're attending.

Even confident pets can panic unexpectedly when fireworks start. A little preparation can go a long way toward keeping them safe, calm, and secure. 💙

☀️🐾 Summer pet safety is incredibly important this time of year in Atlanta.

Hot pavement, humidity, overheating, dehydration, parasites, hot cars, etc. can become dangerous much faster than many people realize. Even routine walks and outdoor time may need adjustments during extreme heat.

A few reminders:
✔️ Walk during cooler parts of the day
✔️ Check pavement temperatures
✔️ Prioritize hydration and shade
✔️ Stay current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
✔️ Never leave pets unattended in vehicles
✔️ Review microchip registration and check ID tags
✔️ Watch for bug bites and hot spots that may develop on the skin
✔️ Keep your grass and yard maintained to prevent bugs and snakes
✔️ Prepare for July 4th fireworks
✔️ Make veterinary appointments as needed

A little extra caution goes a long way toward keeping pets safe, healthy, and comfortable all summer long. 💙
