These remarkable women represent a living bridge between painful chapters of American history and the freedoms many enjoy today. They once lived under laws and customs that sought to limit where they could sit, eat, drink, learn, and even whether they could exercise the right to vote. They experienced an era of segregation that placed barriers on basic human dignity. Yet here they stand at The APEX Museum in 2026—not as victims of history, but as witnesses, survivors, and pillars of perseverance. We honor their strength, resilience, and sacrifices, recognizing that many opportunities often taken for granted today exist because they and many others, endured, resisted, and continued moving forward. Their lives remind us that history is not distant—it is living, breathing, and standing before us. “Lest we forget” We must remember so we won’t let it happen again!
