Black people are not a monolith. If you need any evidence of that just look at podcasting.
It’s a billion dollar industry with genres ranging from True Crime to Kids & Family and we exist in every single one of them.
While reviewing hundreds of podcast submissions is a challenge, I enjoyed hearing all the different shows outside of my typical go to genres.
As I continue to grow in this industry finding opportunities to help Black creatives will always be top of mind and it’s really great to have a resource like The helping shows get discovered.
The future is bright!

Black authors are not getting the same level of respect as other authors get.
Walter Dean Meyers was the first author who was able to create a story that I felt connected to. Before I got burnt out from reading in high school, I would spend hours reading fantasy novels. I’d get lost reading A Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter, even S.E. Hinton’s books but after reading Monster by Walter Dean Meyers, I realized that I needed more Black authors on my bookshelf.
The challenge I found, was that I didn’t know how to find Black authors. But it’s not because they don’t exist, it is because there are not as many growth opportunities available for Black literary creatives. At least there wasn’t at that time.
Join me as I speak to Tamika Newhouse the founder of AAMBC INC non profit organization founded with desire to provide a platform for the unknown African American creative in the television, film, and publishing industry.
