Many people with stage 4 lung cancer are living longer because of advances in treatment. But living longer is only part of the story.
These therapies can come with side effects that build over time — some visible, many invisible, and not always reflected by words like “mild,” “moderate” or “severe.”
We know that side effects can change how we work, parent, sleep, exercise, socialize, or see our selves.
As more of us live years with metastatic lung cancer, we need more honest conversations. Topics like toxicity, quality of life, and the gap that can exist.
Dr. Sydney Barned understands this from both sides — as a physician and as someone living with stage 4 lung cancer herself.
