Today we want to introduce you to Jorge Garcia, our rock star Assistant Equipment Manager! We got to know Jorge better recently with a little Q&A:

Q: How long have you worked at Cloud to Ground?
A: I started interning in the fall of 2017 and came on full-time at the start of 2018.

Q: What's a typical day like for you?
A: I’ll come in at 9 AM and immediately check my emails for any urgent requests from our office or our productions that are shooting. After that, we check in with any teams picking up or dropping off orders and make sure that the transition of items is flawless. If we don’t have any urgent orders for that day, we will be working hand in hand with Crazy Legs Productions on making any adjustments to their gear requests. Once those shows are completely satisfied with their changes, we work on cleaning, repairing, and QCing any necessary items within our inventory.

Q: What do you like best about your job?
A: I enjoy working up close with both our talented crew members and all of the new gear that comes into our system. I am always eager to learn. Having knowledgeable crew members teach us even the most simple tips and tricks is always beneficial. I am privileged to access some of the most remarkable camera and lighting equipment at my disposal. Having to learn the ins and outs of all the gear in our inventory is something I don’t think I would ever be able to do if I worked outside of a rental house.

Q: What is your favorite part about being on a set?
A: I really enjoy getting to work with the DPs. They’re some of the most skilled and knowledgeable people in this industry, and working alongside them to fulfill their vision is always rewarding.

Q: Favorite TV show:
A: My favorite TV show is The Office. I have watched the show in its entirety over 10 times. Since last year, I figured it was time to take a break from rewatching and get into some other shows. Some of my recent favorites have been Succession, Demon Slayer, and Insecure.

Q: Did you pick up any new hobbies during the pandemic?
A: I wouldn’t necessarily call it a hobby, but because everything shut down for a while and I needed a haircut, I bought a hair clipper and learned how to cut my own hair. I wouldn’t say they’ve been good haircuts, but they haven’t been bad enough for someone to notice, haha.

Q: Favorite restaurant in Atlanta:
A: I have phases depending on the weather for my favorite meals/restaurants. One of my favorite restaurants is Food Terminal. I’ve been enjoying their braised beef noodle soup a ton during the cold months. Some of my other favorites include Zunzi’s and B&L Wings.

Q: What makes Atlanta a great place to live and work?
A: Atlanta offers a beautiful demographic of cultures not only with the people but with the restaurants and activities happening across the city. Several prominent sports teams boast incredibly supportive fans, even when they’re bad ;). Finally, the city has one of the highest job growth rates in the country, especially within our industry.

Q: What makes Cloud to Ground the best facility of its kind?
A: Cloud to Ground is a small team that allows us to work more hands-on with our clients and ensure we are their one-stop shop. We make sure that any additional request is always taken care of before, during, and/or after the shoot.
