𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝘀. 🎒
In Kenya, over 1 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘴 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴 3–4 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 every month simply because they lack sanitary pads. And in 27% of communities, 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 menstruation is still 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥.

These 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀. They are the 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆 and the reason she refuses to stand still.

Olivent is a Program Associate with Women Volunteers for Peace (WOVOP) and one of the frontline heroes that Global Health Action (GHA) is proud to stand behind.

Together, 𝗚𝗛𝗔 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗢𝗩𝗢𝗣 𝗰𝗼-𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 in low-resource communities in Kisumu County to talk openly about menstrual health, without shame, without silence, and without having to choose between their period and their education.

💜 Through this partnership, Olivent and the WOVOP team distribute dignity kits and essential supplies, directly tackling period poverty, unplanned pregnancies, and transactional s*x in their community.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹. 𝟭𝟰𝟳 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. One of them is Winnie, who is today pursuing her Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics. A future she almost lost to a problem that was entirely preventable.

✨𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘪𝘧𝘵 to the Kenyan Heroes in Action campaign 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘦𝘴 who know exactly where they're needed most.
