These photos are from Elbert County, Georgia after yesterday’s storms and WOW. 🌩️ This happened just outside of our viewing area, but I still wanted to share because it’s a good reminder that you do not need a tornado to get serious damage.
The National Weather Service has confirmed this was straight-line wind damage, not a tornado. They were out there today surveying the area so that they could see just how strong the winds were.
A lot of times people hear “not a tornado” and think that means the storm wasn’t dangerous. Straight-line winds can still knock down trees, damage homes, and leave behind a mess like this.
If you’re in the area, be careful around downed trees and power lines while cleanup continues.
