July is Disability Pride Month — a time to celebrate the history, achievements, identities, and contributions of people with disabilities while recognizing the ongoing work toward full inclusion and accessibility.
Observed each July in honor of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Disability Pride Month reminds us that disability is a natural and valuable part of human diversity. It is an opportunity to challenge stereotypes, elevate disabled voices, and foster communities where everyone can belong and thrive.
At InCommunity, we believe every person deserves the opportunity to live a meaningful life, pursue their goals, and be valued for who they are. This month, we celebrate the strength, leadership, and unique perspectives of people with disabilities and reaffirm our commitment to creating more inclusive communities for all.
💙 Join us in celebrating Disability Pride Month by listening, learning, advocating, and supporting disability-led voices and initiatives.

Summer Activity Series: Picnic in the Park ☀️🧺
When we talk about independence for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), it's important to remember that inclusion is about more than daily living skills—it is also about belonging.
Simple activities like a picnic in the park create opportunities to build relationships, practice social skills, make choices, and participate in the community. Whether helping plan the outing, preparing food, or spending time with friends and family, these shared experiences can help foster confidence, connection, and self-determination.
This summer, consider packing a favorite meal, visiting a local park, and creating space for meaningful moments together. Sometimes the most impactful opportunities for growth and inclusion happen through the simple act of gathering and connecting with others.

🍓 Summer Activity Series: Visit a Local Farmers Market
Meaningful community experiences help build confidence, independence, and connection.
A visit to a local farmers' market provides opportunities to practice communication, decision-making, and money management skills while exploring all that the community has to offer. Whether selecting fresh produce, speaking with local vendors, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, these everyday experiences can support personal growth and community engagement.
This summer, consider visiting a farmers’ market and encouraging individuals with I/DD to participate in choosing an item, making a purchase, or learning about a new food.
Small experiences can create meaningful opportunities for learning, inclusion, and independence.
