The courtroom is designed to capture our attention while emphasizing important issues. The Book of Job often reads like a court case. And it is no wonder since Job’s faith is on trial. Every trial has its pleas and defenses. Trials are designed to uncover the truth. One would wonder if Job were on trial or if God is on trial in the book of Job. What happens when we put addictions on trial?
Our corrupt natures are not capable of beholding the magnificence of God (they are not even interested.) In a trial, the facts must be stated and proven to be either true or false. Addiction is not concerned with the facts. Addictions don’t care about the truth. Addictions have no sense of fairness.
